His Majesty Requests: With This Ring
Based on Rebecca Park Totilo's bestselling book, His Majesty Requests, the Jewish wedding custom of the ring given in marriage is because when God gave the Torah, it was the sealing of his marriage covenant. The feast of Shavout and Pentecost for Christians is in remembrance of this event. It is also symbolic of the giving of the Holy Spirit.
